Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for ‘The Investigation of Lucy Letby,’ a feature-length documentary examining one of the most harrowing and divisive criminal cases in modern British history.
The 90-minute film explores the crimes of Lucy Letby, the former neonatal nurse found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others while working at the Countess of Chester Hospital. The offences took place between June 2015 and June 2016, a period that would later be scrutinised in one of the most closely followed trials the UK has seen in decades. Letby was ultimately convicted, becoming the country’s most prolific child murderer.
The documentary promises unprecedented access to the investigation behind the case. For the first time, it features new materials and testimony from the British police officers who led the inquiry, alongside never-before-seen footage of Letby during her arrest and police questioning. These elements aim to shed light on how investigators pieced together the evidence that led to her conviction.
‘The Investigation of Lucy Letby’ also gives voice to those most deeply affected. The film includes a contribution from the mother of one of the victims, who speaks candidly about her experiences and her involvement in the trial. This marks the first time a family member directly involved in the prosecution has participated in a documentary about the case, adding an emotional and human perspective to the legal and investigative narrative.
Balancing these personal accounts, the documentary features interviews with legal experts and lawyers from both sides, offering analysis of the evidence, the trial process, and the controversy that has surrounded the verdict.
