DaniElle DeLaite traveled to Emeryville California to Pixar, to talk with the storytelling geniuses behind the likes of Toy Story, Up, Finding Nemo (& Dory), Cars, Inside Out and, of course, The Incredibles.
To celebrate the launch of The Incredible 2 on Blu-ray and DVD we talked with write/director Brad Bird and producer John Walker about the how the time constraints ensured that wasn’t time for things that didn’t work storywise. However this gave rise to some interesting directions that were cut and there are a lot of these, including deleted scenes and single scene breakdowns.
Walker talks about the extras which involve profiling some of the people who worked on the movie including married couples on the team. Including… Dave and Jessica Torres who animated the married couple Helen & Bob in the film, in the first scene they’ve ever animated together. They both talk about how they put some of themselves into the film.
Bird and Walker told us how much the increase in technology had improved to such a huge degree. They are able to talk about how the tech had moved on from Cars and Ratatouille. They also talk about Brad bird’s animated alter ego Edna Mode and her superhero fashion.
Here’s the conversation,
The Incredibles 2 is out on DVD and Blu-ray right now.
