Written by acclaimed novelist Helen Walsh (The Lemon Grove, Once Upon A Time In England) in her first original screenplay for television, The Gathering introduces newcomer Eva Morgan as working-class student Kelly, who is attacked at an illicit rave on a tidal islet. She stars alongside Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) as Jessica, a friend and elite gymnastics teammate.

Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point) also stars as Jessica’s controlling and toxic mother Natalie and Warren Brown (The Responder) is Kelly’s hard working father Paul who struggles with his own impulse control.

Filmed and set in Liverpool and around Merseyside, The Gathering is ultimately a whodunnit.  Focusing on a group of teenage misfits and their parents, each character has a motive for attacking Kelly.

We were lucky enough to chat to Eva and Warren about their respective roles and about the importance of highlighting working class voices on mainstream TV series. We also chatted to Eva about how it felt to be making her acting debit in such an exciting setting and how much easier it was working around the areas of Liverpool where she grew up.

The Gathering will be released on the 14th of May, 2024.

Plot:

The new thriller leans into the controversial and the provocative, examining the intertwined sex lives, loyalties and rivalries of a group of teens. And asks how they can negotiate their sense of identity and freedom in the face of surveillance parenting.
