The-East-PosterAfter making a name for himself with his feature debut, Sound of My Voice, Zal Batmanglij returned to Sundance at the start of the year with his sophomore film, The East.

Reuniting with Brit Marling, who’s joined by a terrific cast led by Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgård, the film definitely ought to be on your Must-See list if it isn’t already.

The first teaser trailer debuted earlier in the year, followed by a great new poster last month. And with its release in the US fast approaching at the end of May, Fox Searchlight have debuted a new trailer and poster to raise the anticipation that much higher.

In THE EAST, Sarah Moss (Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds as she starts to fall in love with the group’s charismatic leader, finding her life and her priorities irrevocably changed.

Toby Kebbell, Patricia Clarkson, Julia Ormond, Shiloh Fernandez, and Aldis Hodge complete the cast very nicely.

And after working together on Batmanglij’s Sound of My Voice, Marling and Batmanglij have once more collaborated to co-write The East’s script.

The East will be released in the US on May 31st, giving you just over four weeks to count down before its arrival. And its UK release date has now been set for 31st July, and it looks like it will definitely be worth the wait. Here’s the latest trailer and poster to prove it.
