As if we couldn’t be any more excited by this one, A24 have released the very first trailer for the eagerly anticipated The Disaster Artist, which you can view below.

Based on the book of the same name by Greg Sestero, The Disaster Artist tells the behind-the-scenes story of cinema’s greatest bad film, The Room, and the work of writer/director Tommy Wiseau (played by Franco in the film) who created the film. Dave Franco stars as Sestero in the film alongside an array of A-list talent who fill out the supporting roles.

The Room gained ultimate cult status back in 2003 and was considered one of the worst films of all time. But as the years went on, the film grew into one of the “must-see” films and through many additional screenings, including quote-a-longs at London’s Prince Charles Cinema (where it now plays many times every year). Wiseau and Sestero both have cameos in the film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

A delightful tribute to the joy and madness of making movies, The Disaster Artist follows the outrageous adventures of eccentric filmmaker Tommy Wiseau and his best friend, actor Greg Sestero. These two endearing misfits move to L.A. and try to live the Hollywood dream by making their very own feature film, but end up embarking on a wildly unpredictable and hilariously unforgettable production. Leading to one of the most infamous, bizarre, and beloved midnight movies of all time, The Room.

Featuring in the film are Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Alison Brie, Josh Hutcherson, Zoey Deutch, Ari Graynor, Jason Mitchell, Sharon Stone, Melanie Griffith, Jacki Weaver, Hannibal Buress, June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson, Kate Upton and Megan Mullally, as well as the likes of Bryan Cranston, Zach Braff, Adam Scott, Danny McBride, Lizzy Caplan, J.J. Abrams, Kristen Bell, Keegan-Michael Key and Judd Apatow appearing as “themselves”.

The Disaster Artist opens on December 1st in limited release and goes wide on December 8th in the US, with a UK release still to be confirmed.
