A24 has loosed another arrow straight into the heart of myth with the newly released trailer for ‘The Death of Robin Hood,’ a stark and soulful reimagining of the legendary outlaw that trades swashbuckling bravado for blood, reckoning, and grace.
From writer-director Michael Sarnoski, the film stars Hugh Jackman as a weary Robin Hood, no longer the grinning hero of folklore but a man crushed beneath the weight of his own legend. The trailer opens on the aftermath of violence, a battered Robin left gravely wounded after a battle he believed would be his last. The forests feel quieter now, the songs long gone, replaced by the echo of lives taken and choices that cannot be undone.
As Robin clings to life, he is rescued by a mysterious woman played by Jodie Comer, whose presence feels less like a coincidence and more like fate calling in a debt. In her care, Robin is forced to confront the truth of who he was and what his crusade truly cost. The trailer suggests a story steeped in moral ambiguity, where heroism and murder sit uncomfortably close, and redemption comes with no guarantee of survival.
The supporting cast adds further gravity, with Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
