The-Conjuring-PosterJames Wan’s return to horror territory this summer with The Conjuring has us all excited. The film is said to have earned an R rating in the States for simply being ‘too scary’, and that is very much something to look forward to.

Like many horrors, the film is based on a true story, but it seems that this one is more than most. With its release date fast approaching, Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for the film, delving into its real-life past, featuring interview snippets with the family featured in the film.

And whilst I am personally very much a sceptic when it comes to these things in real life, I can’t wait to see the movie.

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga top a great cast as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, with Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, and Mackenzie Foy starring alongside them.

Wan (Insidious, Saw) is directing from a script penned by Chad and Carey Hayes (House of Wax, The Reaping).

The Conjuring will be released in the US in a few weeks’ time on July 19th, and is set for a 2nd August release date here in the UK. Here’s the new trailer to get you in the right frame of mind. Enjoy.
