Universal Pictures has unveiled the chilling trailer for ‘The Black Phone 2,’ the highly anticipated sequel to Scott Derrickson’s 2022 horror hit. Returning to direct, Derrickson brings audiences back into the nightmarish world of The Grabber, with the terrifying story set to unfold in cinemas on October 17.
Four years after the events of the first film, Finn (Mason Thames) is now 17 and still haunted by the trauma of his abduction and escape. But true evil never dies—and the phone is ringing again. Ethan Hawke, in one of the most sinister roles of his career, reprises his haunting performance as The Grabber, whose vengeance reaches beyond the grave to torment Finn and his younger sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).
The trailer teases Gwen’s unnerving dreams, where she begins to receive calls from the black phone and sees visions of three boys being stalked at a remote winter camp known as Alpine Lake. As Finn struggles with life after captivity, Gwen’s determination to uncover the truth leads them to the camp during a raging storm. What they find is a horrifying connection between their family’s history and The Grabber’s twisted legacy.
Joining the cast are Oscar® nominee Demián Bichir (The Nun, A Better Life) as the camp’s supervisor, Arianna Rivas (A Working Man) as his niece, and Miguel Mora (The Black Phone) as the brother of one of The Grabber’s victims. Jeremy Davies also returns as Finn and Gwen’s father, Terrence, with new additions Maev Beaty (Beau is Afraid) and Graham Abbey (Under the Banner of Heaven).
