The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-EW-CoverThose heading out to Comic-Con this weekend are sure to be in for a real treat, with studios San Diego-bound with some of the biggest movies in the coming months (and years). Sony are all but guaranteed to have a good weekend, taking The Amazing Spider-Man 2 out with them.

And ahead of its appearance out in California, the first Comic-Con teaser has surfaced online, giving us a little look at Electro, played by Jamie Foxx in the anticipated sequel.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are of course front and centre once more, with Foxx joining the line-up alongside Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Marc Webb is back at the helm having directed the original reboot, with  Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost) on script duties, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be hitting cinemas in 3D on May 2nd, 2014, marking the second instalment in the franchise, which Sony have committed to being at least four films in length. Very exciting times. With any luck, we’ll be seeing more from the film in the next few days.
