Thanks-for-Sharing-PosterStuart Blumberg’s Thanks for Sharing is an absolute must-see movie of the year, originally set to be released in the UK in just a few weeks on 13th September.

Koch Media have now announced that the anticipation will have to be sustained for just a little bit longer, pushing its release date back to 4th October.

Whilst the extra wait is of course always going to be disappointing, the film is definitely worth the wait – you can read our five-star review from TIFF last year to see why.

On the plus side, its original UK release date would have seen it opening opposite Ron Howard’s anticipated Rush, as well as Insidious: Chapter 2, the baseball drama 42, and Lake Bell’s terrific In a World…, making for a very competitive weekend in cinemas.

The first weekend of October is looking a little less packed, but still wonderfully competitive, with Thanks for Sharing now opening opposite the Aubrey Plaza comedy The To Do List, the James McAvoy-starrer Filth, Kevin Macdonald’s How I Live Now, Getaway with Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez, and Emperor with Tommy Lee Jones and Matthew Fox.

And whilst that will still be a tough weekend to crack, not opening opposite Rush and Insidious: Chapter 2 should certainly help its chances to get the kind of audience size that it deserves, giving Koch a little extra time to push awareness for the movie in the coming weeks.

From Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter and first-time director Stuart Blumberg (THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT), THANKS FOR SHARING is a sharply comic and deeply moving look at a new kind of modern family, as a group of friends in recovery learns to face life together with heart, humor and humility.

Academy Award-nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award-winner Tim Robbins and Broadway star Josh Gad (“The Book of Mormon”) anchor a stellar ensemble that includes Academy Award-winner Gwyneth Paltrow and pop star Alecia Moore (“Get the Party Started”) in her first film role.

Mark Ruffalo and Josh Gad give exceptional leading performances, with Tim Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Alecia ‘Pink’ Moore, Patrick Fugit, Joely Richardson, and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. all brilliant in the ensemble cast.

Blumberg, the Oscar-nominated co-writer of The Kids Are All Right, is making his directorial debut with the film, co-writing the script with Matt Winston.

Thanks for Sharing will be opening in the US on September 20th, and is now set to open in the UK on 4th October. And if you haven’t seen the trailer already, then enjoy.
