The idea is that after Superman is mortally wounded by Doomsday (who killed Superman in a comic book run many years ago) he dons the suit so that he can heal.
As you can see from the clip below, we are talking about a very different iteration of the suit from any previous incarnations, even if it is a “special” suit for a particular predicament of Kal-El’s. its interesting looking at this stuff now and wondering how that would have worked for superman, it could have worked for the characters on planet krypton but that wasnt the case seeing the sculpt they were fitting it on was for nic cage. what the hell kind of casting choice was that anyway? anyway the suits look pretty cool, especially the regeneration one (if the lighting is right anyway) maybe they should have been used for some kind of green lantern or other sci fi movie.
