Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) debuted his latest horror, Sinister, at SXSW earlier this year to excellent early reviews, and what we’ve seen from the film since then has been promising for a brilliant scare-fest as we head towards Halloween next month.

Ethan Hawke stars in the lead, and now a great new red-band trailer for the film has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, and is naturally not suitable for work – some nudity, some killing, and some pretty loud screaming.

“SINISTER is the terrifying new horror from the producer of INSIDIOUS and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and the writer-director of THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE.

A true crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) struggling to find his next big story moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.”

Hawke stars alongside Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Clare Foley, and Juliet Rylance, with Derrickson directing from a script he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill.

Sinister will be released here in the UK on 5th October, before heading to the US a week later for a 12th October release. Be sure to catch on the big screen when it hits, because this looks like it should be a lot of fun in a darkened auditorium. Enjoy. (And one quick final reminder – this is a red-band trailer, so it’s not work-appropriate viewing.)
