As next March draws nearer, more stills and footage find their way to us for Battle: Los Angeles. Now, we can add to that the first teaser trailer which you  can watch below, or catch here at Apple Trailers.

Honestly? This looks like hugely impressive stuff. We are likely to feel a bit of an alien invasion overload by the time Battle hits our screens, what with Monsters and Skyline both beating it to the punch, but this seems to be very much its own, ahem, ‘creature’.

The trailer very much nails its much-publicized Black Hawk Down-style approach, with the action looking realistic, gritty and visceral. There seems to be quite a hand-held feel to it, but not in a motion-sickness-inducing, gimmicky sort of way. We don’t get anything in the trailer that looks like a big Independence Day style, White House wrecking money shot and perhaps the film will steer of that sort of cliché.

In short, I’m sold. I think this looks awesome. What do you think?

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
