In an announcement that is every bit as predictable as the incidents caused by another night of debauchery via the Wolfpack, The Hollywood Reporter brings news that plans are already being formulated for a third instalment of The Hangover.

Part II only opening last week, but with a domestic gross of over $143m it’s hardly surprising that Warner Bros. are eager to cash-in once again. Sequel co-writer Craig Mazin is said to be in early talks to return, and with director Todd Phillips having stated in recent press interviews that he’s already cooked up an idea for a third adventure, this must be further music to the studio’s ears.

Given the unfavourable critical reception the second film has been greeted with, it could be argued that the formula has been well and truly stretched to breaking point now, so whatever Phillips has in mind it may have to be at less a little different. Realistically-speaking however, that premise of the gang once again waking up in yet another quirky locale and faced with the same conundrum is almost inevitable.
