Just before Christmas the news broke that Rogue One star and Oscar Winning actor Forest Whitaker will be reprising his role as freedom fighter Saw Gerrera in Star Wars Rebels which is currently in its mid-season break.
If you can’t wait that long to see footage from the second half of season 3, fear not as we have the brand new trailer embedded below for your viewing pleasure. The new season is set in a time period just prior to the events of Rogue One which will no doubt get both fans of the animated and live action franchise excited to see how the timeline before Rogue One expands even more.
Star Wars Rebels works beautifully in unison with Rogue One since the time periods run together making it ideal for a link with the recently released live action movie (which ended up being the biggest film of 2016 in the UK even though it was only released a couple of weeks before the end of the year). The post we see him in harks back to the very familiar one in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith which saw Ewan McGregor in the role as Obi Wan Kenobi.

The cinematic look of the battle sequences and the striking visuals make this animated series a must watch for any Star Wars fans who want to fill the blanks between the live action episodes.
