The shadows of the underworld are deepening. Disney+ and Lucasfilm have officially pulled back the curtain on the next chapter of the ‘Star Wars’ saga with the first teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.’
Set in the volatile period following the events of ‘The Clone Wars,’ the series promises a “pulpy adventure” that finds the former Sith apprentice far from the reach of the nascent Empire.
The teaser introduces us to a Maul who is as lethal and ambitious as ever. Having survived the collapse of his previous enterprises, he is seen plotting to rebuild his criminal empire on a remote planet, out of the reach of Imperial eyes.
However, a criminal kingpin needs an heir. The trailer hints at a fateful crossing of paths between Maul and Devon Izara (voiced by Gideon Adlon), a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan hiding from the purge. Is she a victim, or the perfect weapon for Maul’s relentless pursuit of revenge?
Mastermind Dave Filoni returns to helm the series, developing the story alongside Matt Michnovetz. The voice cast is a powerhouse of returning favourites and exciting newcomers: Sam Witwer as Maul, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Golden Globe® winner Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David C. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus. Fans will also hear the talents of Chris Diamantopoulos, Charlie Bushnell, David C. Collins, and A.J. LoCascio (returning as the mysterious Marrok).
