With production currently underway on the as yet untitled LucasFilm Han Solo movie, the list of impressive names on the cast list is growing bigger by the day. Today’s reveal has seen Sing Street breakthrough artist, Ian Kenny, join the likes of Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover in the film which is due for release in 2018.

However, Ian Kenny may have been revealed as another new cast member details of the character he may take on are being firmly kept under wraps until we are deemed worthy of this snippet of information.

Ian Kenny Sing Street

The Dublin star played TJ Deegan in Fair City for six years before departing in 2012 and went on to receive high praise for his performance as antagonist Barry in last year’s John Carney hit Sing Street, which in our opinion was robbed of even a nomination for best original song at this year’s Oscars.

Already cast on this intriguing new project which is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller are Harrelson, Glover, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caeser!), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Me Before You), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Michael K. Williams (12 Years a Slave, Broadwalk Empire) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (The Iron Lady, Fleabag).

However, Disney CEO Bob Iger said in an earnings call earlier this week that the movie would cover Solo’s life from when he was 18 to 24, revealing how he came to own the Millennium Falcon as well as how he met his Wookie sidekick, Chewbacca. Pair this with the information Woody Harrelson revealed last week in an interview with Jimmy Fallon that he would be playing a mentor to Han Solo helps Star Wars fans start to place together a rough idea in which direction the spin-off may be heading in, even if there is a lack of information on Solo’s back story.

Keep checking back for more Han Solo news as and when it’s revealed.
