Netflix has released the official trailer for its unsettling new limited horror series ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen,’ an atmospheric tale set against what should be one of life’s happiest occasions… a wedding. Instead, the series promises creeping dread, eerie coincidences, and a haunting question: what if the person you’re about to marry isn’t your soulmate after all?
The eight-episode series follows Rachel, played by Camila Morrone, a bride-to-be counting down the final five days before her wedding. Alongside her fiancé Nicky, portrayed by Adam DiMarco, she heads to his family’s secluded vacation home deep in a snowy forest. The remote setting is meant to host an intimate ceremony that should be perfect.
But something feels wrong.
Rachel is plagued by superstition and creeping paranoia, unable to shake the relentless feeling that disaster is looming. Strange events begin stacking up like crooked wedding gifts. Eerie coincidences, unsettling encounters, and increasingly disturbing surprises blur the line between anxiety and reality.
The series leans into psychological horror while exploring the emotional weight of commitment. If ‘Carrie’ represents the horror of a girl becoming a woman and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ reflects the terrifying transformation into motherhood, ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen’ frames marriage itself as a chilling leap into the unknown.
As Rachel’s doubts intensify, the looming ceremony forces her to confront a frightening possibility: what truly makes two people soulmates? And perhaps more unsettling, what could be scarier than spending the rest of your life with the wrong person?
The series boasts a strong ensemble cast including Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ted Levine and Sawyer Fraser.
Directing duties are shared by Axelle Carolyn and Lisa Brühlmann, bringing together two filmmakers known for their distinctive work in atmospheric storytelling.
