Snitch-PosterSummit will be heading to the Super Bowl this weekend promoting Snitch, the latest action-thriller that sees Dwayne Johnson front and centre.

With estimates of around .75m. per 30 seconds at this year’s big game, Summit must be feeling good about the Johnson-led movie coming our way later this month. And the Super Bowl is naturally about as big a platform as a movie can have to reign in an audience.

“Dwayne Johnson stars as John Matthews, a businessman hit hard when his teenage son is wrongfully ensnared in a drug bust and threatened with a terrifying 10-30 years in federal prison (under the US government’s draconian minimum drug sentencing laws). The only option to reduce the sentence is to “snitch.” A desperate Matthews makes a deal with the politically ambitious federal prosecutor (Sarandon) and infiltrates the operation of a violent drug dealer (Williams). When his amateur undercover work unexpectedly exposes a major player in the Mexican drug trade (Bratt), the rules suddenly change and an already dangerous venture turns decidedly deadly.”

Johnson is joined by an excellent supporting cast, topped by Susan Sarandon, Michael Kenneth Williams, Benjamin Bratt, Jon Bernthal, Barry Pepper, Melina Kanakaredes, and Rafi Gavron.

Ric Roman Waugh (Felon) is at the helm, directing from a script originally penned by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) and re-written by Waugh, inspired by true events.

Johnson will be following up Snitch with three more of the year’s biggest blockbusters. First up will be G.I. Joe: Retaliation in March. Then it will be Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain and the immensely anticipated Fast and Furious 6 in May. It’s going to be a great few months for him and all of us who love him.

Snitch will be opening on 22nd February in the US, with its UK release date set for 5th April. Be sure to tune in to the Super Bowl on Sunday, where you can see the below ad screening to millions around the world.
