Christina Hendricks and Chris O’Dowd sit down for an exclusive interview with HeyUGuys to discuss Small Town, Big Story, a highly anticipated Sky Original series. Created by O’Dowd, the six-part series also stars Paddy Considine, David Wilmot, Michelle Forbes, Peter McGann, and Evanne Kilgallon.

Set in a quirky rural town on the Irish border, the show follows a community of eccentric misfits whose lives are upended when a major Hollywood production arrives, shining an unwelcome spotlight on a long-buried secret dating back to the eve of the Millennium. Blending comedy, mystery, and a touch of the surreal, Small Town, Big Story promises to be a fresh and imaginative take on small-town life and the unexpected ways in which past and present collide.

Chris O’Dowd, who both created and wrote the series, has drawn inspiration from his own upbringing in Boyle, County Roscommon. Many of the characters are based on people he knew growing up, lending the show an authentic charm and a deeply personal connection to the Irish town where it is set. His signature wit and heartfelt storytelling shine through in a narrative that captures the oddities, warmth, and tensions of small-town life—especially when the outside world comes knocking.

For Hendricks, the project offered several exciting firsts. Known for her dramatic roles in Mad Men and Good Girls, she was drawn to the opportunity to lean further into comedy, something she has enjoyed throughout her career but hasn’t often been at the forefront of. Hendricks also spoke about her love for filming in Ireland, praising the warmth and humour of the people.

With a stellar cast, a unique premise, and a heartfelt comedic edge, Small Town, Big Story is set to premiere on February 27, 2025.
