VHS VIral

The latest film in the V/H/S series has a new trailer and it’s another horrible descent into analogue hell with V/H/S Viral.

The V/H/S films benefit greatly from a connective wraparound story which looks to be expanded upon in their new trailer, released just now from Deadline. Like the [REC] films, and admittedly to a lesser extent with the Paranormal Activity films, the mythology of the evil encountered is what interests many. This is teased throughout each film, giving audiences a tantalising taste at the strange foundation of this world we’re seeing snippets of captured on the video tapes. The Collective and Bloody Disgusting are producing the film and have given the brief synopsis of the wraparound which ‘focuses on fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.‘ That’ll end well.

Directors Gregg Bishop, Marcel Sarmiento, Todd Lincoln, Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead and Timecrimes’ Nacho Viglondo lead us through the disturbing set of first person horrors this time around and the trailer gives a few short sharp shocks of what to expect.

Rumour has it that this will be the final film in the trilogy which is both understandable and a shame considering the success of the first two, as well as the similarly framed ABCs of Death. I hope we’ll see more from the creative team – after all there are many more directors out there and many more horrifying stories to tell.

Here’s the trailer and the poster. Can’t wait.
