Gotham City may be welcoming another marquee name. Sebastian Stan is reportedly in talks to join Robert Pattinson in DC Studios’ ‘The Batman Part II,’ the long-gestating sequel to Matt Reeves’ brooding 2022 reinvention of the Dark Knight.

Details about Stan’s potential role are being kept under wraps. It remains a mystery whether he would step into Gotham as an ally to Bruce Wayne or emerge from the city’s shadows as its next formidable threat. Either way, his possible arrival only deepens the intrigue surrounding the sequel’s expanding ensemble.

Written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, ‘The Batman Part II’ recently added Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson to an already star-heavy supporting cast. She joins returning favourites Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also expected to reprise his unsettling take on the Joker, following his brief but memorable appearance in the first film.

Stan’s potential casting comes with a layer of cinematic déjà vu. He previously shared the screen with Johansson across multiple Avengers films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and appeared opposite Pattinson in Netflix’s 2020 Southern Gothic drama ‘The Devil All the Time.’ Now, the pieces may be aligning for a reunion on DC’s darker, rain-soaked streets.

Directed by Reeves, the sequel is expected to begin shooting next spring ahead of an October 2027 theatrical release from Warner Bros. Anticipation has been steadily building since ‘The Batman’ opened in March 2022, ultimately grossing $772 million worldwide and cementing Pattinson’s take on the Caped Crusader as a commercial and critical success.
