Paramount Pictures has debuted the first trailer for ‘Scary Movie 6,’ resurrecting the chaos-loving Core Four twenty-six years after they first outran a certain suspiciously familiar masked menace. Yes, that one. The trailer wastes no time plunging into a blood-splattered playground where legacy sequels, prestige horror and “final chapters” that refuse to stay buried are all fair game.
Marlon Wayans returns as the eternally frantic Shorty, alongside Shawn Wayans as Ray, Anna Faris as the gloriously accident-prone Cindy, and Regina Hall as scene-stealing Brenda. The gang finds themselves once again in the killer’s crosshairs, only this time the target is bigger than a single slasher trope. It is the entire horror-industrial complex.
The trailer teases a rapid-fire blitz through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, origin stories and every so-called “elevated” fright fest that dares to whisper the word legacy. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed, tripped over, and then mocked for good measure.
Perhaps the biggest headline is that the Wayans are steering the madness once more. The tagline alone hints at their mission statement: the Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.
Directed by Michael Tiddes, the cast expands with a mix of familiar collaborators and fresh faces, including Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Heidi Gardner and Lochlyn Munro, alongside Gregg Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Dave Sheridan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif and Sydney Park.
