Ryan Reynolds and Taika Waititi are set to reunite on the cast of Shawn Levy’s ‘Free Guy’ at 20th Century Fox.

Levy will take the helm on the Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn script which also has a cast of Jodie Comer, Joe Kerry and Lil Rel.

The film focuses on a background video game character who realizes he’s living in a game. With the help of the avatar of the game’s designer, he tries to prevent the makers of the game from shutting down his world.

Reynolds will be producing the picture alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Adam Kolbrenner.

Waititi and Reynolds have previously worked on 2011’s ‘Green Lantern’ in which Reynolds Hal Jordan was the first human to join the ranks of the Green Lanterns, an intergalactic order who had a disregard for humans.

Waititi has been on a roll since injecting life into the Marvel Universe with Thor: Ragnarok, his upcoming directorial efforts include WWII drama-comedy ‘Jojo Rabbit’ in which he stars in as well as having written. He is also directing an episode of the Star Wars series ‘The Mandalorian’. He will co-write and direct the new Apple series ‘Time Bandits’. He’s also a director ‘What We Do in the Shadows’the TV series.

Reynolds was last seen in ‘Deadpool 2’, he will next be heard in ‘Detective Pikachu’ in which he voices the titular character. Other upcoming project’s include ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife’ and ‘The Croods 2’.
