Timur Bekmambetov has already bagged Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Alan Tudyk for the film alongsideĀ  Benjamin Walker as the tophatted title character and though this is surely to have its tongue firmly embedded into its cheek there’s a chance for this tale of President Evil to be something special.

Tonight a casting addition has been announced: Variety are reporting that Rufus Sewell, who has carved out a character niche for himself playing angry young antagonists, will play ‘Adam’ – the lead vampire villain according to the report.

Sewell was recently seen in The Tourist and The Illusionist, though to my mind his best performance was in Dark City which was, a little worryingly, thirteen years ago.

Time to fang up Mr. Sewell and head to Ford’s Theatre for a bite to eat.
