Robert De Niro and ‘Star Wars’ actor John Boyega have jumped on board the Netflix original feature film ‘The Formula’.

The story will follow a Formula One racing prodigy who is forced to become a getaway driver to save the only family he has left.

‘Burning Sands’ helmer Gerard McMurray will write and direct and produce the project via his recently formed production company Buppie Productions. Jane Rosenthal, De Niro and Berry Welsh will also produce. Sam Shaw and Buppie Productions’ Ephraim Walker will also co-produce.

Boyega was last seen in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology film ‘Red, White and Blue’, He is currently filming on ‘They Cloned Tyrone’ with Jamie Foxx.

De Niro shows no signs of slowing down, having last starred in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’, his upcoming projects include David O. Russell’s next untitled film with Christian Bale and Margot Robbie and he also recently wrapped ‘Wash Me In the River’ opposite John Malkovich.

McMurray is known for helmer ‘The First Purge’ and an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’.
