‘Dune’ star, Rebecca Ferguson has signed up to star opposite Chris Pratt in the Amazon MGM studios sci-fi feature ‘Mercy.’

The story is set in the near future when capital crime has increased. The feature follows a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence.

Bekmambetov will take the helm of the movie which is produced by Oscar-nominated producer Charles Roven.  Marco van Belle penned the script. Roven is producing Mercy with Atlas Entertainment SVP Robert Amidon alongside Bekmambetov’s BEL banner. Majd Nassif will also produce.

The movie is expected to be released in cinemas worldwide as the studio has high expectations for the movie.

Bekmambetov and Pratt have previously worked together on 2008’s ‘Wanted,’ a $342 million-grossing, Oscar-nominated blockbuster based on Mark Millar’s comic book.

Ferguson can currently be seen on the big screen reprising her role as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Two.’ She is currently filming the second season of AppleTV series ‘Silo.’
