PrometheusWe’re roughly a month and a day away from the release of Prometheus and this evening Channel 4 played host to a new trailer during Homeland for Ridley Scott’s much anticipated film, and then followed it up with something a little different.

Fox and its marketeers invited viewers to tweet a response to seeing the trailer with the hashtag #areyouseeingthis and sweetened the deal by promising to include some of the Prometheus inspired tweets in a follow up advert. Choosing to premiere the trailer during an advert break of a popular show is nothing new, though it hasn’t been used often here in the UK, and offering the carrot of a tweet broadcast to the nation is a new tactic. It’s certainly preferable to the TV adverts for films which consist of random members of a preview audience bleeting one line inanities instead of anything approaching a frame of the actual film.

Anyhoo, rant over. Prometheus is by far my most anticipated film of the summer, I’m crossing as many fingers as I can find that Scott and his team have made good on the promise shown so far.

Here’s the trailer.
