Following critical acclaim from its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, Dogwoof has acquired the UK rights to David Osit’s latest documentary, ‘Predators.’ The edge-of-your-seat feature will open in US cinemas on September 19, 2025, before arriving in UK cinemas on November 14, 2025.

Directed by Osit (Mayor, Thank You For Playing), Predators plunges deep into the darker corners of human nature, capturing the unsettling dance between hunter and prey, subject and spectator, and the uncomfortable truths of an entertainment cycle that thrives on humiliation and exposure.

At its core is the cultural phenomenon that began in the early 2000s with Dateline NBC’s ‘To Catch a Predator.’ The candid-camera investigative series lured sex offenders into sting operations where host Chris Hansen interviewed them before on-site arrests — all while the cameras rolled. The show was an immediate hit, transforming Hansen into a national figure and spawning a worldwide industry of imitators, vigilantes, and web-based spin-offs.

But Osit’s film asks the urgent question: why were audiences so eager to watch? And why, decades later, do millions still click and consume these online offshoots built on the same premise?

Through interviews with journalists, actors, law enforcers, academics, and even a self-reflective lens turned back on himself, Osit traces America’s voyeuristic obsession with watching people at their lowest. The result is a gripping, provocative, and unflinching look at society’s appetite for spectacle — and the human cost left behind.

The trailer teases tense archival footage, uncomfortable confrontations, and haunting reflections, leaving viewers to wrestle with their own complicity as spectators.
