Music, ego, and a bruised dream collide in the newly released trailer for ‘Power Ballad,’ unveiled by Lionsgate UK. The feel-good comedy-drama pairs Paul Rudd with Nick Jonas in a story about friendship, ambition, and the messy business of creative credit.
In ‘Power Ballad,’ Paul Rudd plays Rick, a wedding singer whose glory days are firmly in the rear-view mirror. During a gig, he crosses paths with Danny, a fading boy-band star played by Nick Jonas.
The two musicians connect over a late-night jam session, trading melodies and stories like old bandmates who never actually met before.
But the harmony quickly turns into discord.
When Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into a massive hit that catapults his career back into the spotlight, Rick is left watching from the sidelines. Convinced the success belongs to him, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he feels he deserves… even if doing so risks friendships, reputations, and everything else that still matters in his life.
Written and directed by John Carney, the filmmaker behind beloved music-driven films ‘Sing Street’ and ‘Once,’ alongside Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, the film features an ensemble cast including Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu, and Jack Reynor.
