The Australian trailer for streaming service Stan for Philip K. Dick’s renowned short stories, Electric Dreams, a standalone ten episode series, has been released ahead of its premiere later on this year.
The trailer, which is made up from clips from each episode has that special futuristic sci-fi tone that lovers of the genre will recognise from numerous films and shows that have come before. Philip K. Dick’s literary work is said to have inspired the likes of such films as Blade Runner, Total Recall and Minority report.
We’ve already seen first look images from an episode titled Impossible Planet which featured the likes of Doctor Strange’s Benedict Wong and Detroit’s Jack Reynor. Below, alongside the trailer, you can also see images of Timothy Spall as Ed Jacobson in another episode titled The Commuter.
The Commuter sees Ed Jacobson, an unassuming employee at a train station who is alarmed to discover that a number of daily commuters are taking the train to a town that shouldn’t exist. “The Commuter” is based on the short story of the same name by Philip K. Dick and is written by BAFTA-winning Jack Thorne (National Treasure, This is England, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). The episode is directed by Tom Harper (War & Peace, Peaky Blinders).
The Electric Dreams series will include a stellar cast lineup with Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, Julia Davis, Timothy Spall, Joanna Scanlan, Benedict Wong, Juno Temple, Janelle Monae, Anna Paquin, Greg Kinnear, Maura Tierney, Terrence Howard, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Holliday Grainger, Jack Reynor and Richard Madden.
Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams will air on Channel 4 in the UK in September.
