Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti is trading sharp suits and sardonic smirks for sea mist and secret societies. The acclaimed actor is set to star in ‘Boutique’, a mystery horror film written and directed by Jim Gavin, creator of ‘Lodge 49.’

The project marks Gavin’s feature directorial debut and promises an unsettling descent into paranoia, literary obsession, and small-town menace.

In ‘Boutique,’ Giamatti plays Calvin, an American tourist who travels to a brooding English seaside town that inspired the work of his favourite reclusive author. What begins as a pilgrimage quickly curdles into something far darker. Calvin finds himself entangled in a murderous secret society whose influence seeps through every cobbled street, every salt-stung pub window, every shadowed alley.

The film reunites Gavin with Touchy Feely Films, the production company behind Lodge 49. Giamatti will also produce alongside Dan Carey through their company Touchy Feely Films, whose previous credits include ‘Outsiders’ and ‘Cold Souls.’

James Harris and Mark Lane will produce for Tea Shop Productions, known for ‘Obsession,’ while Guy Danella produces for XYZ Films, which will also finance the film. Jacob Jaffke, whose credits include MaXXXine, serves as executive producer.

Production is set to begin in the UK this summer.

Giamatti continues to build one of the most eclectic resumes in Hollywood. He recently appeared in the Paramount+ series ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ and starred in an episode of ‘Black Mirror,’ earning a Golden Globe nomination for his performance.

Up next, he will star opposite Julianne Moore in an upcoming feature directed by Jesse Eisenberg.
