We knew it wasn’t far away once John Boyega took to social media to post the brand new poster for Pacific Rim: Uprising and here it is, the debut trailer.

The sequel had been in the works since 2014, Del Toro stated he had been working on a script and he would take the helm again but after hitting a few bumps in the road the picture was put on ice because of studio politics. At the start of 2016, Del Toro announced that he would be stepping down as the director to hand over the reins to first-time feature director DeKnight whilst he would stay on board as a producer joining John Boyega, who also lends his talents behind the camera.Pacific RIm 2 (2)

Uprising is the follow-up to Guillermo Del Toro’s 2014 sci-fi outing which is directed by Daredevil showrunner Steven S DeKnight and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Zhang Jin, Cailee Spaeny, and Jing Tian.

In a previous interview with Indiewire, Del Toro opened up on working with DeKnight

“It was such a great choice. I mean, I love [DeKnight], love what he does. I think he’s really brilliant. He’s making it his own. I’m not breathing over his shoulder saying, ‘What are you doing? What are you doing?’ He’s doing things differently and I like that. “When I produce I try to produce the way I would like to be produced. I say to everyone I produce, ‘If you need me I will be there 100% all the time. If you don’t need me, I’m not there. You show me the cut then we’ll start interacting.'”

The film is due for release in February 2018
