MGM+ and Sony Pictures Television have unveiled the official trailer for the eighth and final season of ‘Outlander,’ setting the stage for an epic and emotional conclusion to one of television’s most beloved global phenomena. The final season is set to premiere exclusively on MGM+ in the UK on 7th March, 2026.
As the long-running historical drama prepares to close its final pages, the newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the heart-wrenching journey that awaits Claire and Jamie Fraser, whose enduring love story has spanned centuries, continents, and a decade of television.
The trailer teases a looming, life-threatening prophecy, raising a question that hangs heavy over the final season: Will Jamie Fraser once again escape destiny’s grasp, or is this truly the end of his long fight against time and history?
Season Seven delivered a powerful blend of history, heartache, and high-stakes drama as the Frasers were drawn into the chaos of the American Revolution. The season concluded with Jamie’s fateful decision to resign his commission in the Continental Army and return home to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire.
Elsewhere, the MacKenzies faced life-altering choices about where and when to settle following an emotional family reunion. The season’s haunting cliffhanger left fans reeling, casting doubt over the true fate of Faith, Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, and setting the emotional tone for the series’ final chapter.
As Season Eight begins, Jamie and Claire quickly discover that the war has followed them home. Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving and expanded settlement, has changed in their absence, shaped by new arrivals and decisions made while the Frasers were away.
The final season explores what Jamie and Claire are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more painfully, what they are willing to sacrifice to remain together. While the family presents a united front against external threats, long-buried secrets begin to surface, threatening to fracture the Frasers from within. Though the war for America’s freedom may be behind them, their battle for Fraser’s Ridge, and for each other, is only just beginning.
‘Outlander ‘stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, alongside Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter, and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.
The series is executive produced by Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Andy Harries, Jim Kohlberg, Caitríona Balfe, and Sam Heughan, and is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
