Once-the-MusicalJohn Carney’s Once took home a well-deserved Oscar five years ago, and the film’s success has since gone on to see it adapted for the stage with a Tony- and Grammy-winning production, Once the Musical.

The production has already had an incredibly successful run in the States, and is now coming to the UK. Following a limited run in Dublin, Once the Musical will be arriving at the Phoenix Theatre, London, from 16th March, and will run right through towards the end of the year.

In honour of the musical coming to our shores, you can now listen to the entire soundtrack album, Once the Musical, on Facebook and SoundCloud.

“Based on the much-loved Oscar®- winning film, Once The Musical is an extraordinary, original and irresistibly joyous celebration of love, friendship and music. Declan Bennett and Zrinka Cviteši? will lead the cast as Guy and Girl respectively in John Tiffany’s West End production of the Broadway hit musical opening at the Phoenix Theatre in March 2013.”

The production features many of the original songs from the film, including the Oscar-winning original song, Falling Slowly.

I’m still yet to see Carney’s original film, upon which this musical is based, but listening to the songs now definitely has me interested in seeing them both. The A Cappella rendition of Gold is a sheer delight to listen to.

The production took home an impressive 8 Tony Awards last year, and won the Best Musical Theatre Album at last month’s Grammy Awards, so naturally it sounds like it’s a must-see in the coming months.

The production’s run in London will begin next Saturday, 16th March, and tickets are already available through the musical’s official website. And, as above, you can listen to the soundtrack in its entirety through either Facebook or SoundCloud, whichever you prefer.
