The first trailer for ‘On Swift Horses’ has arrived, offering a sweeping, sun-drenched glimpse into a tale of desire, secrets, and the restless search for freedom. Based on Shannon Pufahl’s acclaimed novel, the drama stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva, and Sasha Calle, and will gallop exclusively into cinemas on September 5.

Set in post–Korean War America, the film follows Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and her husband, Lee (Poulter), as they start fresh in California after he returns from service. Their fragile stability shatters with the arrival of Lee’s charming but unpredictable brother Julius (Elordi), a wandering gambler with a shadowy past. As the tension between them simmers, a dangerous love triangle takes shape, igniting passions that threaten to consume them all.

When Julius disappears in pursuit of a young card cheat (Calva) who has captured his heart, Muriel is drawn into her own clandestine journey — one of late-night racetracks, whispered bets, and a love she never thought possible.

The trailer teases a heady mix of romance, longing, and risk, all set against a backdrop of golden California light and smoky backroom gambling dens. With an ensemble cast at the height of their powers and lush, intimate cinematography, On Swift Horses looks poised to deliver a slow-burn epic about the price of chasing what — and who — you desire most.
