Warner Bros. have hired Noah Oppenheim (Jackie) to write the American remake of the Swedish crime-thriller Snabba Cash (Easy Money), ThePlaylist are reporting.

Warner Bros. snapped up earlier this year after out-bidding Universal, Summit Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, The Weinstein Company and Mandate Pictures – and subsequently hired Zac Efron to play the lead role.

Snabba Cash (Easy Money) is a three-tiered story centered around drugs and organized crime, and focused on a young man (Efron) who becomes a runner for a coke dealer.

The Swedish original has attracted quite a lot of buzz, so it’s safe to say this project is hot property. It’ll be interesting to see how Oppenheim approaches this, and how the eventual production compares to the original.
