‘The Undoing’ star Nicole Kidman and former Bond villain are currently in talks to play Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz in the Amazon Studio’s movie ‘Being The Ricardos’.

Aaron Sorkin penned the screenplay and will also sit in the director’s chair.

The film will be set during one production week of the 1950s sitcom ‘I Love Lucy’. The movie follows the Monday morning table read to Friday afternoon filming as Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers and another that may end their marriage.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing the film for Escape Artists. Jenna Block, David Bloomfield, Stuart Besser, Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lauren Lohman are all serving as executive producers.

Cate Blanchett had previously been attached to play Lucille Ball.

‘I Love Lucy’ as an American sitcom which ran between 1951 -1957 and starred Lucille Ball, her then real-life husband Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. It followed the life of Lucy Ricardo (Ball), a young middle-class housewife in New York City, who either concocted plans with her best friends Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vance and Frawley) to appear alongside her bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo (Arnaz) in his nightclub, or tried numerous schemes to mingle with, or be a part of show business.

Kidman can currently be seen in Netflix’s ‘The Prom’, Up next is the series ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’, a Liane Moriarty adaptation for Hulu.

Bardem will next bee seen in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’.
