Brad Pitt’s reunion with writer-director Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) has long been one of my most anticipated films of the year, and with its release now less than three weeks away, things are looking excellent.

The film debuted back at Cannes to brilliant first reviews, and we’ve since seen the fantastic first trailer and the first poster last month. And with its release here just around the corner, a new UK poster has surfaced online, bearing the slogan, ‘In America You’re On Your Own,’ and a naturally snippets of the critical acclaim it’s already racked up.

“When their poker game is knocked off by petty thieves, the Mob calls in their best enforcer, Jackie Cogan, to make things right. Under the eye of a mysterious driver, Jackie must track down and punish those responsible for the heist. His assignment is complicated by those he comes up against along the way – an aging, drunken hit man, some bumbling local gangsters, and the ladies’ man who ran the ill-fated game.”

Starring alongside Pitt is a great supporting cast, headed up by the rising star Scoot McNairy, James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn, Richard Jenkins, Sam Shepard, and Slaine.

Previously titled Cogan’s Trade, Dominik is directing from his own script, adapting the original novel by George V. Higgins.

Killing Them Softly will be released in cinemas in the UK on 21st September, before heading over to US theatres for a 19th October release, and with such stellar talent behind and in front of the camera, this could well be a contender as we head into the awards season later this year. For now, here’s the great new UK poster, which you can click to enlarge.
