The Conjuring kicked off with a very effective (and very frightening) scene which featured a doll called Annabelle. In it we saw the sinister doll terrorise two nursing students, and after a pretty vague first teaser for a movie focusing on her, this new trailer sheds some light on what we should expect from the spin-off.
Based on what we see here, director John R. Leonetti (who served as a DP on The Conjuring) appears to have brought a similar aesthetic to Annabelle, not to mention the same type of scares and tension fraught moments. The cast meanwhile is made up of lesser known actors like Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard.
Warner Bros. will release Annabelle on October 3rd, 2014 and The Conjuring 2 is set for October 23rd, 2015.
We also have the latest trailer for Nightcrawler. In the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, an LA crime journalist who begins to push the limits between covering the news and making it, and this preview puts the psychological thriller aspects to one side in order to focus on the action-crime elements.
Also starring Bill Paxton, Rene Russo, and Riz Ahmed, Nightcrawler hits the UK on November 14th.
NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.
