The Purge Anarchy

Today is Independence Day, but why not celebrate a far more sinister future American holiday this 4th of July weekend? Well, Universal Pictures have released a new set of posters for The Purge: Anarchy, a follow-up to the movie which grossed an impressive million worldwide on a budget of only million.

Returning alongside writer/director/producer James DeMonaco to produce the sequel to 2013’s sleeper hit are Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious series), alongside Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13, Four Lovers) and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay (Transformers franchise), Brad Fuller (The Amityville Horror) and Andrew Form (Friday the 13th).

The sequel stars Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Frank Grillo, alongside Michael K. Williams (Boardwalk Empire), Zach Gilford (The Last Stand) and Kiele Sanchez (The Glades). The Purge: Anarchy isn’t a sequel in the traditional sense as events take place at the same time time as the original movie, with a new cast of characters forced to cope without a security system as chaos takes over the streets.

The Purge: Anarchy is set to be released on July 18th in the US and on the 25th here in the UK. Click on the thumbnails below to view the full-size versions of each of these new posters.
