We know that shooting is well underway on the X-Men prequel, First Class, having been treated to these snaps already of Charles Xavier walking and talking with Mystique. Clearly things are now getting moving nicely, as we have a number of shots of what looks like the X-Men fighter jet, which featured prominently in X-Men 2.

Since we know from the existing entries in the X-Men franchise that Eric Lensherr (Magneto to be) helped Charles Xavier to build Cerebro, it would not be too much of a stretch to surmise that he had a hand in the construction of the plane as well (no doubt someone out there with a better working knowledge than me of X-Men lore can confirm if that is indeed the case).

There’s clearly quite a lot of green screen work going on here and the source site (CBM.com) speculates as to whether this island setting will be Muir Island for the film. If you click through to the site, you can scroll down and see what the various comments have to add as to which of the storyline strands from the X-Men universe might come into play here. For the moment, let’s just say that the plane looks cool, even in pieces.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
