Life of Pi International PosterDebuting to excellent early reviews at NYFF, Ang Lee’s Life of Pi will soon be entering the Oscar race in a big way, with its US release set for just a few weeks’ time.

Promising to be one of the most visually impressive films of the year, we caught a new clip from the film last week, showing off the terrific effects with the renowned Bengal tiger, and now a set of banners and two new international posters have surfaced online, giving another great look at the animal and the epic scale of the film.

“Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor — a fearsome Bengal tiger.”

Newcomer Suraj Sharma takes the lead in the coming epic drama, supported by Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Rafe Spall, and Gérard Depardieu, with Lee directing from a script by Oscar-nominated David Magee (Finding Neverland), adapting the critically acclaimed novel by Yann Martel.

Life of Pi will be released in 3D on 21st November in the US, with its UK release coming slightly later on 20th December, in perfect time for Christmas. I can’t wait. The film looks to be one of the year’s best, and its arrival can’t come soon enough. For now, here’s the new international poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
