The first trailer and poster for the upcoming crime/thriller Alex Cross landed back in June, and gave us a brilliant look at the film and what we can expect from it. In short, we should be seeing a great new side of Tyler Perry, and an immense new side to Matthew Fox as the antagonist, who looks more hench/intense than almost anyone ever.

The film will be opening first in Russia, ahead of its UK and US releases, and now a new poster promoting that Russian release has made its way online – you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a poster for Safe House, because this new poster looks almost identical to some we saw for the Denzel Washington- / Ryan Reynolds-starrer earlier in the year.

“After Washington DC detective Alex Cross is told that a family member has been murdered, he vows to track down the killer. He soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem.”

Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) is behind the camera, directing from a script co-written by Marc Moss (Along Came a Spider) and Kerry Williamson, adapting James Patterson’s 2006 novel, Cross.

Previously titled I, Alex Cross, the film also stars Ed Burns (Saving Private Ryan), Rachel Nichols (Alias), Jean Reno (Leon), Giancarlo Esposito (The Usual Suspects), and John C. McGinley (Wall Street, Scrubs).

Alex Cross will be released in the US on 19th October, having opened in Russia a day earlier on the 18th, before coming to us in the UK on 30th November. As usual with this new poster, you can click to enlarge. (I’ve also included a poster below for Safe House, just so you can see what I mean.)
