Black Bear has unveiled new images from the highly anticipated biopic ‘Christy,’ which is set to hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on November 28. Starring Sydney Sweeney as boxing pioneer Christy Martin and Ben Foster as her trainer and husband Jim Martin, the film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, The King, The Rover).

‘Christy’ had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, earning strong early buzz, and will make its UK premiere at the 69th BFI London Film Festival on October 17, where it screens as a prestigious Headline Gala.

The newly released stills showcase Sweeney stepping into the ring with fierce intensity, red gloves raised high in triumph, and the emotional highs and lows that defined Martin’s groundbreaking career. One image captures the ecstatic aftermath of a championship victory, while another shows her mid-bout, brimming with defiance and determination.

The film tells the remarkable true story of Christy Martin, a small-town woman from West Virginia who defied expectations to become one of boxing’s most trailblazing and controversial figures. With grit, raw determination, and a fiery persona, Christy carved out a place for herself in a sport that often sought to shut her out. But behind her public triumphs, she fought her most dangerous battles outside the ring—navigating family conflict, questions of identity, and a volatile relationship that turned life-threatening.

Based on extraordinary true events, ‘Christy’ is more than a boxing drama—it’s a story of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life.

‘Christy’ releases in UK and Irish cinemas on November 28.
