Adapting Nicholas Sparks’ original 2008 novel, The Lucky One is due to be released in just over a month here in the UK (and just under a month in the US), and we’ve already seen some promising things from the film.

Say what you will about Zac Efron and his past work (i.e. High School Musical), I think he’s about to break out of his shell in a big way this year, with leading roles in Liberal Arts and The Paperboy, as well as The Lucky One.

Scott Hicks (The Boys Are Back, Shine) is behind the camera, with Will Fetters (Remember Me) adapting Sparks’ novel, with Taylor Schilling (David O. Russell’s upcoming The Silver Linings Playbook) and Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents) starring alongside Efron.

We’ve seen two images from the film already, as well as a great featurette and trailer at the end of last year, and now we have four new images to share with you, courtesy of IMDb. The first two, of Efron, are the same as the two we’ve already seen, but now we get them in full hi-res size, in case you’re wanting to re-wallpaper your desktop.

“Based on Nicholas Sparks’ bestseller The Lucky One, Zac Efron (“17 Again,” “Charlie St. Cloud”) stars alongside Taylor Schilling (TV’s “Mercy”) and Blythe Danner (“Meet the Parents” franchise) in this romantic drama directed by Academy Award(R)-nominated writer/director Scott Hicks (“Shine,” “No Reservations”).U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive-a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, givingLoganhope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.”

The Lucky One will be out in the USon 20th April, and will then be released here in the UK two weeks later on 4th May. Sparks’ adaptations have all done good business at the box office in the past – particularly The Notebook, with Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling – and I can certainly see a repeat performance happening here. As usual with these new images, you can click to enlarge.

With the film’s release just on the horizon, I’d imagine that we’ll be getting a new and final trailer for the film shortly, so be sure to check back in to see when it hits.
