Knowing that the books are being adapted for the big screen has the disorienting effect of the various actors appearing in my own personal version of the story, and though the character of Haymitch seemed quite similar to the crazy guy Woody Harrelson played in 2012 my mental image is complete as we have our first look at both Harrelson and Lenny Kravitz as the stylist Cinna in these new pictures from the film.
Movieweb (via The Playlist) gave us a look at the images, some of which have been glimpsed before and I have to say I’m rather looking forward to seeing a) how the book turns out and b) if the film does as well as is hoped.
Here are the pics, click to make them all big,

Hmm… Lenny Kravitz looks strange in this one…
I got the set of books for Christmas and finished the first one last night. Comparisons to Twilight were really putting me off it, but it’s not a bad read. I think they’ve made some pretty good casting decisions, especially Woody Harrelson! Looking forward to seeing it now.
Nothing like Twilight. Maybe from a marketing perspective they’re aiming for the same demographic, so they’re comparing them in terms of who will watch the movies and how much money they hope to make.
Content-wise, however, there is no comparison. Where as Twilight is a vapid and shallow soap opera for tweens, these books are hard hitting, gritty and have a truly deeper meaning to them more akin to George Orwell than sparkling vampires.
