Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods is finally closing in on its release, and we’ve already seen a handful of great things from the film already, most recently including a new trailer just last week.

With Joss Whedon having co-written the script, I’m already sold, so it’s that much more enticing with Drew Goddard, writer of Cloverfield, having co-written the script with him, and Goddard makes his directorial debut with what is sure to be one of the year’s best horror/thrillers.

The film has been a long time coming, and Jon’s had a chance to see it a little early, and you can read his review here. We’ve now got four great new images from the film to share with you, courtesy of IMDb, one in which we can see Whedon himself on set and behind the camera with Goddard.

“Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen.

If you think you know this story, think again.

From fan favorites Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard comes THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.”

I love that simple synopsis that plays on the conventions of horror films, and I can’t wait to see how the film does it itself.

The cast features an impressive array of talent, including Chris Hemsworth, Bradley Whitford, Richard Jenkins, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams, and Whedon-favourite Amy Acker.

The Cabin in the Woods will be released in the UK and US on 13th April, so you have just over a month to prepare yourself for the awesomeness. As usual with these great new images, you can click to enlarge.
