With only a week left to go until Tim Burton’s latest film, Dark Shadows, enters our cinemas, we’re heading into the final stretch of the marketing campaign that has been successfully teasing the gothic aesthetic Burton is of course best known for.

A new featurette has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, giving us a look at footage from the film itself alongside interviews with the cast, talking about the strangeness of the Collins family that they portray.

Burton reunites once more with Johnny Depp in the lead as Barnabas Collins, and has assembled a brilliant cast that should be a lot of fun to see performing alongside him, including Eva Green, Chloë Grace Moretz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller, Gulliver McGrath, Jackie Earle Haley, Bella Heathcote, and Helena Bonham Carter.

“In 1752 the Collins family sails from Liverpool to start a new life in America. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas (Johnny Depp) is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy… until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). Angelique turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is freed and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harbouring their own dark secrets. Tim Burton directed this gothic vampire tale based on the cult TV series of the same name.”

Seth Grahame-Smith (author or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) makes his screenwriting debut, ahead of his second film due out later this year, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which Burton also produced.

Dark Shadows will be released in the UK and US on 11th May, and will also be playing in IMAX theatres if you’d care to catch it on as big a screen as possible – the BFI IMAX in London is booking tickets now.
