Dredd 3D will be hitting the big screen here in the UK this coming Friday, and following a brilliant ad campaign in recent months – with the film previewed at Comic-Con to excellent early reviews – the anticipation is running on high.

In case you still need convincing, you can read Ben’s promising review of the film here. And if that still wasn’t enough, we’ve got a new clip to share, courtesy of Digital Spy, taking a slightly different tack from the action we’ve seen a lot of, showing a bit of character development from the action/thriller, with Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) discussing the possibility of making a difference.

“DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

Lena Headey stars alongside Urban and Thirlby as the antagonist, Ma-Ma, with Pete Travis directing from a script by the great Alex Garland (28 Days Later, The Beach), and Domhnall Gleeson, Wood Harris, and Jason Cope completing the cast.

Dredd 3D will be released in the UK this Friday, 7th September, when it will also be playing at the TIFF. Viewers in the US will have to wait a little longer until 21st September for its release, but everything we’ve seen so far would suggest it’s going to be well worth the wait. Here’s the new clip in the meantime.
